AMT '69 Plymouth GTX to '69 Plymouth Sport Satellite
Hello fellow modelers! As you can see by my post count, I am new to the site. I stumbled upon this wonderful site while searching for help in the build I'm about to start on. I've been out of the modeling hobby for about 5 years as I had no where to "set up shop". Now that I'm a homeowner with a nice big basement, I've created a space to finally get back into a hobby I used to love so much.
I'm about to start what will be the most detailed build I've ever done...it actually scares me a little. As the title states, I'm looking at taking an AMT 1969 Plymouth GTX and turning it into a 69 Plymouth Sport Satellite. I know that there are a few differences that I will have to address, and I was hoping to find more information on that on this site...and hopefully a few (or MANY) tips on how I might go about such changes. The main motivation behind this build, is that for the last 6 years, my dad and I have been restoring our 69 Sport Satellite. I want to build a car that looks as close to ours as I can get it.
I've already picked up a Ross Gibson 383 engine (my first Gibson). I've also re-stocked myself with Tamiya brand paints, Chrome foil, some DetailMaster ignition wire, and a couple of sizes of hoses to use for the A/C lines and vacuum lines. I was hoping to use the paint that we painted the car with to allow it to match the closest, but I have to do more reading to make sure it won't actually melt the plastic (I still have to find out what kind of paint it is).
Anyways, so as not to make this any longer, I submit for your viewing pleasure, My inspiration:
Thanks for looking. I'll take any tips or constructive criticism you can throw at me!! I really want this to be the best model I've ever built.

Alonso the new favourite
![]() Fernando Alonso is the new favourite for the title |
?He is the man with the momentum and, on the same basis that I backed Mark Webber to win the title before Korea, is now my favourite to claim the world title in Abu Dhabi on Nov 14. ?When the cars are so evenly-matched you have to back the man in possession. Especially when that man is a two-time world champion and arguably the finest driver of his generation.?The Mirror?s Byron Young drew comparisons between Alonso and seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher as the Spaniard bids to become the sport?s youngest ever triple world champion.
?Like Schumacher, Alonso accepts no opposition within his team. Ultimately he fell out with McLaren over their refusal in 2007 to bring Lewis Hamilton to heel. ?He returned to Renault on condition he was No.1, only to be at the centre of the Singapore cheat scandal - engineered to hand him victory. ?The Spaniard has always denied involvement but at the German GP in July he was brazen enough to radio Ferrari to rein in team-mate Felipe Massa so he could start the winning streak that has taken him to the brink of history.?

WIP - 1970 - Chevy Nova from "Death Proof"
I did a ton of research on this subject before getting started, but I'm ready to proceed on it now. This will be the '70 Nova Stuntman Mike drove in the movie "Death Proof". The first problem was trying to confirm which year Nova was used in the movie. Everything from '69 to '73 has been mentioned, but the crew that made the cars for the film confirmed that at least 2 of the Novas used were from 1970, non-COPO, non-SS cars.
So, starting with 2 different Nova kits...
...and...
I will be using the non-SS grilles in the COPO kit and most everything else in the SS kit. The wheels that come in the SS kit are correct for this car (they were NOT mags...), and I will have to scrounge in the parts box for a sport bucket seat and sport steering wheel for a more correct interior. The seats that come in both kits will be put away for another Nova project later on, and I'll be ordering 2 "rubber duckie" mascot ornaments from Down Under here real soon. The skull and lightning bolts I've already obtained from Hazzardous Decals, so now it's time to get building!
(I can't WAIT to trash that interior with metal plates, reinforcement door bars, plexiglass dividers, and full-on rollcage! Will also be trying to source a "tractor seat" for the passenger as well! LOL!)

2010 Mustang GT
This was a quick build I made for a friend to replicate his 1:1 Mustang. I swapped out the kit rims for something that looked more like the rims on his 1:1 and I had a little trouble matching the factory candy paint, but I think it's pretty close.
Sorry about the bad pics, I'm not sure why they got blurry once I loaded them on photobucket.

My 71 to 70 'Cuda Conversion......
First off a BIG thanks to Mr.Mike for the insperation to do this project! I also used the earlier AAR front to start my conversion following Mike's ideas. Where I varied is I decided that just modifying the taillight openings wasn't good enough for me,nothing against Mike's style, we all build our way. I grafted the rear from the current AAR to the rear of my 71. Unfortunatly I decided to do this AFTER I chopped up the AAR's Rear pan which means I need to get another rear pan for this project. As I progress I'll post more photos. Thanks for looking!

1966 Shelby GT350H
I got this kit at the Classic Plastic Model Club Christmas Party for building in the Box Stock Club Challenge in our upcoming show in September. The only thing I can change are the wheels and tires. Since I have built quite a few of these Mustang kits over the years, building one box stock will be a challenge for me since I can't leave it well enough alone. No plug wires, no heater hoses, no modifications. Just what's in the box...this should be fun!
The kit is Revell's Shelby GT350H.
The paint will be Model Master Wimbeldon White with gold stripes. The main stripes will be painted while the side rocker panel stripes will be the kit decals.
More to come...
